Marie Jones is a new Home Delivered Meal Participant.  Marie is 84 years old widow that lives alone in a retirement community.  She has many health problems and requires a diabetic diet. .  Marie measures all of her food intake and is very aware of her blood sugar levels making sure they are stabilized.
Marie is lonely and depressed. Her main social contact is the person who drives her to the Wound Clinic weekly to treat the sores on her feet that are extremely painful and makes standing and walking difficult. Marie likes to cook her own meals but cannot stand for long periods of time and it is difficult to make nutritious meals for one person and not have to eat the leftovers for the remaining week. The cost of food and the cost of heating up her oven is also a deterrent on her tight budget.  Marie enjoys the hot diabetic meals that are delivered daily.  The Home Delivered Meal Program provides a variety of hot nutritional meal dishes that Marie would not be able to cook for herself. Marie also enjoys the company of the meal delivery person on a daily basis.
